In our market in southeastern Michigan, most homes have basements, and there are a lot of basement problems.
One time we were looking at six Ann Arbor homes on our first time out with a first-time homebuyer couple. Four of the six homes either had current basement issues or had previously had basement issues that had been corrected.
We aren’t home inspectors and we leave the details to the home inspectors and engineers. However, it is still very important to consider these five things when we look at basements with home buyers.
